Race Car 101
- Basic Setup theory – what data we need
- Data taking - hands on practice
- Understanding what changes we need to make based on data, driver and crew chief feedback
Crew Chief
- Crew Leader
- Tire, Practice and Race Strategy
Spotter
- Drives the race truck from the spotter stand
- Radio communication with the driver of track conditions
- Ensures driver hits his marks and lines
Tire Guy - Overall Tire Management
- Ensure Tire Stagger, Pressure at all times
- Tire Inventory
- Ensure accurate tire data and car sticker completeness
Data Guy
- Review / ensure accurate data
- Transfer of data from car sticker to data sheets / laptop
- Analyze data / brief Crew Chief
Lap Timer
- Analyze and manage lap time data
- Analyze competitors lap times
- Provide lap times to driver via radio during runs
Pit Man
- Ensure battery charger is connected at all times
- Keep track of tasks to ensure that we are on - schedule (race day)
- Car (race truck) Scaling – (set up, data collection, comparison to track scale data, analysis and recording)
- Go to guy for all pit area operations
- Pit layout
- Canopies, night lighting
- Tool inventory / tool list (new tools that we need)
Driver
- Drives the truck
- Ensures the crew is well fed
- Pays the bills
